This page has been added to provide a little advice on how to use this site to find and compare different phone deals. If you have not used a comparison site like this before it may be worth taking a couple of minutes out to learn how to get the best from our search widget.
Finding The Right Mobile Phone Deal
There are two ways to find deals on this site, one is to look in the review pages themselves where the cheapest deals are shown followd by a “click for more” button.
However, the best way is to use the search widget in the sidebar where you can specifiy exactly what kind of deal you are looking for.
Please note, our database currently contains in excess of a million phone deals and as such can take a moment to update / show results.
Core Price Plan Fields
The Minutes, Texts, Data and Contract Length options will return deals showing exactly the specified number of minutes and texts respectively. Thus, the more options you select the narrower your search will be. Also bear in mind that different networks operate different plans, so selecting very specific requirements may filter out potentially better deals from rival networks. For this reason we suggest that you start with a broad search (selecting fewer options) and then drill down on the specifics depending on the results you see (i.e. focus in on deal parameters that appeal to you with subsequent searches).
Additional Searchable Criteria
As well as the “core price plan” fields you will notice you have the ability to search for free gifts, specific handsets or network providers. Again, the more options you select the fewer results will be shown. Again, we would suggest you start with a broad search on your key criteria and refine your search based on the initial results you see.
Ordering Search Results
The last search option allows you to “order” the results. The default value is “Order By Cheapest Total Cost”. An explanation of the options is given below:
- Order By Cheapest Total Cost – Calculates the total cost of the deal over the contract length and shows the cheapest deals first in the results table.
- Lowest Monthly Average – This calculates the total cost of the deal and averages it out over the contract length. This option provides a better comparison when looking at deals of different contract lengths. Again, cheapest deals are shown first.
- Monthly Line Rental – This criteria looks only at the monthly line rental paid to the network provider, again listing cheapest deals at the top. This criteria does not account for additional handset costs which may be applicable on certain price plans.
- Most Cash Back - Some deals offer instant cash back or cash back by redemption. This criterial allows you to find the deals with the biggest cash incentives.
- Handset Price – Orders by the cheapest handset price (the fee that must be paid up front if ordering expensive handsets on cheap monthly contracts to cover the cost of the phone).
Of the above we would ordinary suggest using one of the first two options, those being “cheapest total cost” and “lowest monthly average”.
Deals Found Indicator
To speed up the process of searching, and avoid entering searches that do not have any deals listed you will see a counter above the “Search” button. This will dynamically update as you make different selections in the drop down lists above. If you want a moment for this counter to update before hitting “Search” you will be shown the number of available deals without having to actually reload the search page.
for deals specifying the Torch red with another network provider like Orange you are not going to see any deals.
Search Thoroughly!
As mentioned there are a lot of deals in our database, it would take a lifetime to view them all but we would suggest you make a good number of searches covering the various options available to you before deciding on a contract. In particular, before placing an order with a given retailer, be sure to check there are not better deals on offer with other networks offering more minutes (if you are filtering on minutes as a criteria).
7 Day Cooling Off Period
We are not a retailer, we do not sell anything, nor are we qualified to offer legal advice! That said, we do know that any purchase you make online in the UK are subject to a 7 day cooling off period, so if you find a better deal having already placed an order, canel it and re-order!
Good luck, we hope you find a great deal!
